Why are so numerous Republicans against staying truthful about Global Warming?
The truth is painful to liar-denier cheaters, so I reproduce here my (since removed) answer to (this slightly modified repeat of) Alan H’s prior posting of this question (any other victims of the cheating liars can also repost here):
Look at Pegminer’s answer to my related question earlier today. It can be generalized to answer yours [Alan H's].
Since the 2000 Supreme Court tie-breaker making GW Bush president, and Karl Rove his propagandist-in-chief, Republicans have followed a mostly quite consistent general strategy of telling stupid lies to stupid voters to make them feel good about being stupid, and thus voting Republican: from Saddam was behind 9-11, to closing tax loopholes for the rich is a socialist plot. Lies about global warming are but one (glaring) example of many:
Why has this been a mostly successful strategy for Repubs (re climate science and in general)?
1) There are a lot of stupid voters, and an even larger number of stupid non-voting-but-potentially-voting voters.
2) The mixture of stupid Republican lies has been cleverly targeted at key swing voters in key swing states.
3) The key lies in the Republican BS arsenal have remained rather astonishingly consistent (astonishing when you consider how fast those lies crash and burn when applied as policy). This is appealing to many voters because the steadfast consistency contrasts so blatantly to the spineless Democrats whose cornerstone strategies are whining, waffling, and caving.
4) Liars don’t like to admit that they have lied, especially if consistency in the lies is important, so (& this is a rather significant long term flaw in the Republican strategy); they tend to cling to lies even after they have become redundant, irrelevant, or counterproductive (such as major corporate donors starting to wonder why they are making campaign contributions to half-witted, anti-science, immature, dishonest and incompetent ***holes).
EDIT: To Jeff Eng, If you truly “very much desire a TRUE full and open debate based on empirical facts and NOT computer models” then go to Wikipedia, and discover that a solid scientific consensus has been developed over many decades of “open debate” already, and that the basis of that consensus does NOT depend on computer models (although the key climate models used reliably confirm the consensus: http://www.skepticalscience.com/climate-models.htm). If you continue to recycle stupid garbage lies instead, I will block your crap from my questions.
U.S. National Academy of Sciences, 2010:

“Climate change is occurring, is caused largely by human activities, and poses significant risks for a broad range of human and natural systems.”

“Choices made now about carbon dioxide emissions reductions will affect climate change impacts experienced not just over the next few decades but al
…but also in coming centuries and millennia…Because CO2 in the atmosphere is long lived, it can effectively lock the Earth and future generations into a range of impacts, some of which could become very severe.”

“The Academy membership is composed of approximately 2,100 members and 380 foreign associates, of whom nearly 200 have won Nobel Prizes. Members and foreign associates of the Academy are elected in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research; election to the Academy is considered one of the highest honors that can be accorded a scientist or engineer.”

We are being honest, but you don’t want to accept the findings of prominent scientists: That global warming if fake and that Al Gore is the big liar and deceiver.
Vlad has said it correctly…global warming is out of fashion. Get with it. And be thankful that Gore wasn’t admitted to a mental institution or made to stand trial for his big fibs.
Now, can we move on?
Global Warming is a way for the government to control the people.
They used to control the population with wars, making them give up things like gasoline, sugar, stand in line for certain items, they made them do this in recent world wars and even during Carter’s administration.
However, people have changed over the years they are not so apt to give up for a war so the environment was the next step. I still remember reading about that idea in 70s and it sounded so silly then but now I see how little by little they have indoctrinated the public school children into believing.
Like its uncontrollable or catastrophic and its just a normal and natural thing the earth has been doing for millions of years. The only difference is we happen to be witnessing the event. Its a slow process it isn’t even going to effect our great grand children’s lifetime so there is really no reason to get ‘all worked up” about it nor include it in any present day political agenda.
Most Republicans are bought and paid for by CO2 producing industries. Those that claim AGW has been proven wrong, are either liars, or are not aware that virtually every scientific organization on earth has concluded that AGW is real. And the statement that we have wars to fight…yes, unjust wars like the one in Iraq started by the idiot George Bush.
Go join the flat earth society i’m sure you will find some global warming recruits.
First, let me say that I Truly WISH that I was bought and paid for. (I’ll sell my votes and opinions for enough money!!!) It would make my life a whole lot easier. OTOH, i VERY MUCH believe in self reliance. Taking your money to say something I do not believe in is not beyond me though.. :)
This being said I very much desire honesty. I very much desire a TRUE full and open debate based on empirical facts and NOT computer models. Have you ever built a computer model? Have you even tried to accurately model something as simple as a 5,000 gsf building? It is highly complex and any seemingly minor error can be greatly magnified and skew final results quite dramatically.
The whole of the global warming debate ia within a few percentage points. I can honestly tell you that a solid and reliable computer model of a building is LUCKY to get actual results within 10% of those predicted by the computer models.
Knowing this, and understanding the complexity involved, I do not understand how anyone with even a minimal scientific education can claim we can accurately model the GLOBAL climate within a couple of percentage points and say that with a straight face.
Until building energy models can get accurate results and do so routinely within 2 – 3% of actual I will be unable to believe ANY GLOBAL climate models.
Building energy models can get much more acturate when dealing with existing buildings, but ONLY after you tweak numbers to force results to match empirical data. This is NOT being done with computer models of the Global climate. If you can show me a Global Climate model where you enter weather and climate data from say 1990 and then the model accurately makes predicitons through 2010 then I will believe you are on to somehting. Of course you will have to open your code to independant review so it can be verified that the “model” is not just regurgitating pre-enetered data versus making predictions based on alogrythms etc.
The less educated the voter, the easier they are to trick. Look at the Texas education system. They teach Creation instead of science. Rick Perry admits that Texas schools teach Creationism.

Most politicians will say whatever they think will help them win elections. To win a Republican nomination, you have to appeal to the base (the base turns out for primaries more than moderates). Right now, the Republican base is mainly extremist Tea Partiers. These folks are generally brainwashed by Fox News, which consistently misinforms them on climate science, basically calling it a massive conspiracy. So to win a Republican nomination, their politicians almost have to deny global warming.
Mitt Romney is the one exception, currently doing well in polls despite accepting basic climate science. John Huntsman has also been vocal in his rejection of climate science denial, but unfortunately he has little chance of winning the presidential nomination.
In my opinion Republicans represent rich folks and rich folks usually invest in oil and dirty corporations so if they admit to global warming then something would need to be done to fix the problem and they would lose their dirty money by admitting that what they represent is destroying our world.
Wake up! Global warming is a theory, not an established fact. Evolution is a theory, also. Not a fact, just someones theory. Misguided liberals living in la-la-land are always clutching at straws, anything new and exciting sounding. There is nothing wrong with believing, but when you think your beliefs have to excepted by the majority, it’s a problem. If you seriously believe in global warming, start living without creating a carbon footprint. Walk, use a bike, raise organic sheep and knit the wool into clothing, use baking soda as a deodorant, and grow your own vegetables by the sweat of your brow using your own dropping as fertilizer. It’s your right, and I back you up 100%. To create government mandates is wrong. Those stupid voters are the ones that make sure superior people like you, who know better, are free and with the right to do and believe what you want. At one time the democratic party was something to be proud of.Now it’s full of zealous, crazy, elite, , name dropping, brown nosing, fluff who will do or say anything to be part of the in-crowd. Now the in-crowd is full of organic food loving, global warming nazis, recycling, $ 5.00 coffee drinking wackos. So, get off your high horse and practice what you preach. I work hard, drink tap water, eat foods that purchased of the shelf and get oxygen from the air that goes into my lungs. I have faith. The bible ( my research source) says, the righteous live by faith. Tipper got out before it was too late. The people in Texas are employed and their school works, for them. The students are taught creationism and darwinism. I can’t wait until concealed weapon carrying Perry is in the white house and puts this country back on track.
