What happened to the write-up on the Y! Homepage about the Federal Judge Overturning the Moratorium?

Share

Earlier today, the “Today” window on Yahoo’s homepage had a headline reading, “Judge lifts offshore drilling ban as ‘overbearing.’” It was posted for a grand total of about 30 minutes. Now, usually these articles are posted and accessible for a day or two; HOWEVER, this article was removed uncommonly quickly. Not only was it removed, but it was substituted by a pictorial depicting devastating images of the environmental impact of the oil spill. (Funny how they don’t want to show the tens of thousands of people out of work–and soon “out of home”–because of President Obama’s moratorium…NOT BP’s moratorium, because BP had nothing to do with the moratorium…President Obama and his overly-political and illogical liberal self are solely to blame for the economic peril resulting from the moratorium) If you’re looking for the article, you can find it here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_gulf_oil_spill

It would seem to the casual observer that the national media is controlling the mood of the American people to an unethical degree. There have been over 40,000 wells drilled in the Gulf of Mexico alone, and this is the first major catastrophe. How much more illogical can one get than to say that even after drilling over 40,000 wells, this one catastrophe shows that the drilling industry is COMPLETELY unsafe, and that we need to shut down all drilling operations until we can be sure that this won’t happen again. (That’s just dumb.)

When an airplane crashes, the President doesn’t shut down the aviation industry for 6 months until a full investigation can be mounted to find and remedy the cause of the crash. They keep flying while they investigate. Then there’s the recent Toyota recalls. Not only did Toyota not stop people from driving their cars until they could get the problem fixed, but their solution was to force people to get into their knowingly unsafe cars, and drive them to a mechanic’s shop (endangering God only knows how many thousands of people along the way) to get the problem fixed. Where was the President and his Nobel Prize-winning mind there??

Let’s show our support for the hard-working men and women who work on these drilling rigs not only to keep food on their families’ tables, but to keep gas in our cars and petroleum-based plastics (like the ones that make up a large percentage of the components of the computer you’re currently using) in the market place. We definitely need to keep pumping our money and time into alternative, renewable energy, but we’re decades (or even centuries) away from REPLACING oil altogether, so in the meantime, let’s keep the oil industry in business so that we can have the electricity and resources to fuel our quest for future oil independence.
